1960s - Time-Travel - La Jetée


1pm - 1960s - La Jetée (AKA The Pier) - dir. Chris Marker - Starring: Hélène Chatelain, Davos Hanich, Jacques Ledoux

28 minutes in length, La Jetée is crazy short, considering it's amazing subject matter. You're never quite sure what it is you're watching, and that's the case literally until the last minute. At first, you'd think you're watching a travel documentary, and then you realise you're really watching a high-concept time-travel tale. The less said about this story, the better.


I will say though, that the way La Jetée was made makes it particularly special in this Movie-Fest. It's made from a group of still photos. Considering how much the camera moves in many of the other films in Movie-Fest 10, La Jetée will feel like a breath of fresh air. One thing to note: we'll be screening the English dub of this film, rather than show it in its native tongue. The film's crazy enough that we shouldn't force people to read subtitles too!
